ONE REAL CAMPAIGN, BRIEF “MEDICAL DISPOSABLES, FDA REGISTERED MANUFACTURERS, SINGLE USE, STERILE”, SEARCHED WORLDWIDE, EXCLUDING CHINA. NOT AN AVERAGE.

The brief, and why it was written that way

FDA registered, single use, sterile, and China excluded. The exclusion is the interesting part of this brief and it is a real buying position, not a political one: a hospital group or a device brand diversifying away from a single country of origin needs to know what the alternative actually looks like before it commits.

Sterility and FDA registration are both claims that appear in writing, which makes this brief unusually screenable. A manufacturer that holds them says so on its own site, because saying so is how it sells.

The engine read 1205 company pages to get here, and the first name worth keeping appeared after 88 seconds. It threw away 245 that it read and judged too weak to be worth enriching and 3 that were borderline and got sampled out. A further 27 went to the reserve pile, which is the engine saying it is not sure.

What is actually in the file

This run read more company pages than any other in the programme and discarded the great majority of them. That is not waste, it is the screen working: in a category this regulated, most pages that mention the words are distributors, hospital procurement portals or trade press, and each has to be opened to be ruled out.

With China out, the file puts the United States clearly on top, then Italy and Sweden, with France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain and Türkiye behind them. That is a fair picture of where regulated single use manufacturing sits outside Asia. The top of the file mixes the large device houses with smaller European specialists, which is exactly the pair a diversification project needs to see side by side.

Under half arrived with an email address. In this industry that is expected: regulated manufacturers route enquiries through named regional distributors rather than a public inbox.

The 30 highest scoring of 58, sorted by match score. The other 28 rows are in the workbook, in these same columns, with the contact addresses the campaign found.

Score is the engine’s own, out of 100. Specialization is its one line reading of the company’s own pages, so it describes how a company presents itself rather than what anybody confirmed on site. Certificates are printed as each company publishes them and are not verified with the issuing body. Contact addresses are in the workbook only: several are patterns rather than discoveries, and a guessed address printed publicly is a wrong fact about a real company.

What it threw away

248 candidates dropped, by reason

Reason codeWhat the code meansCount
B5_DROP_WEAKRead, then judged too weak to enrich245
B5_SAMPLE_SKIPBorderline, sampled out3

The reason is recorded per reason code, not per company. The pipeline counts how many candidates each rule dropped and keeps no reason against an individual name, so this table says how the 248 were lost and cannot say which company sits behind any one of the counts.

A missing certificate never drops a good maker. It lowers a score, and the score is a number you can argue with.

Where this stops being enough

"FDA registered" is a claim the screen reads off a page. It is not a lookup against the FDA establishment registration database, and a shortlist is not a regulatory check. Treat this file as a research starting point and verify registration numbers directly before anything goes into a qualification file.

The same applies to sterility: the brief screens for manufacturers who state single use sterile production, which is not the same as confirming a specific product's sterilisation method or its validation.

Questions buyers ask about this

Does the search verify FDA registration?
No. It screens for manufacturers who state it on their own pages and records the claim. Verifying a registration number against the FDA database is a separate step that a buyer or a quality team does, and no shortlist should be treated as having done it.
Why exclude China from a medical brief?
Because the buyer who asks this question is usually already sourcing there and wants to know what the alternative costs in choice. Excluding one country and re-running the same brief is the cleanest way to see that, and it takes one setting.
