Two ways to reach a shortlist.
On one side, the industry's own benchmark for sourcing a category by hand: 25 to 35 hours of research, contact hunting, outreach and comparison. On the other, 8 campaigns we ran and published whatever came back. They are not the same measurement, and this page says where they stop being comparable.
Where the two columns actually differ.
| The job | By handIndustry benchmark | With ProcureaMeasured, 8 published runs |
|---|---|---|
| Finding and screening | 25 to 35 hours for one category, spread across research, contact discovery, outreach, follow-up and comparison. | 11 minutes, the median of 8 published runs, for the finding and screening part only. |
| Names on the list | Five to fifteen, after a week of browser tabs, and the first three that reply usually win by default. | 49 at the median. 7 on the worst run, 170 on the best, all 8 published. |
| Pages actually read | About fifty search results before a buyer gives up, out of millions the query returned. | 4,656 company pages opened and judged across the 8 runs. |
| Languages read | One or two, whichever your team happens to speak. | 26. The maker you need may only describe themselves in German, Turkish or Italian. |
| Email addresses | Found one at a time, on LinkedIn and contact pages, after the shortlist already exists. | 300 of 472 arrived with one. The rest need a form or a phone call, and the table says so. |
| What you hold at the end | A spreadsheet you built, and the tabs you have not closed yet. | A scored, classified spreadsheet: producer or distributor, country, certificate, match score. |
| What it costs | Buyer time, at a loaded rate your own finance team can price better than we can. | $69 for 10 campaigns a month. $159 for 50 campaigns a month. $299 for 150 campaigns a month. |
Read the top row carefully. The benchmark counts a whole sourcing cycle, outreach and quote comparison included. Procurea replaces its first stage, finding and screening, and nothing after that. The two figures are not a subtraction, and we will not present them as one.
What stays on your side of the line.
The engine reads the line you type. A vague brief returns a vague list, and no amount of search fixes that.
Procurea does not write to suppliers for you. You take the list and you send your own enquiry.
Nobody follows up on your behalf here. Silence from a supplier is still your problem.
Offers come back to your inbox in whatever shape the supplier sends them. We never see a price.
A match score of 95 is the engine reading a web page carefully, not a recommendation to buy.
Nothing is installed and nothing is integrated. The output is a spreadsheet, in both columns.
A buyer with a phone beat us in this one.
When the right supplier is defined by territory and by who they already know, rather than by what they make, a search that reads web pages has very little to read. We ran that case and published it whole.
Every name that came back was a manufacturer. Not one was a dealer. American foodservice dealers sell over the phone and through manufacturer relationships, so their sites carry a territory map and a service number instead of a catalogue, and a screen built to read what a company makes finds almost nothing there. One address out of seven is the same fact showing up a second way.
In a category like that, a purchasing manager with twenty years of contacts is faster and better than we are, and the honest thing is to say so before you pay us. What changes it is not a better search. It is starting from the distributors you already buy from and the rules your own team qualifies on, which is a different way of working rather than a different query.
Bring one category. We will run it before we talk.
These 8 runs are ours, and yours is the one that decides anything. Book a call, we run a campaign on a category you already buy, and you read the list against suppliers you already know.
